This app guides a user to navigate from their current location to a destined point of interest inside available premises.
This was a native app development requirement for Android and iOS for a Switzerland based customer. The work was about designing and developing a GUI over an existing SDK, which can be integrated on top of SDK and can be used by end customers in “plug and play” mode. The vertical domain of the project was an Indoor Position system, wherein SDK can fetch the current location of the user using Bluetooth enabled “iBeacon”.
iBeacons are battery-operated electronic devices, which interacts with user mobile device and sends Geo coordinates (Lat/Long) of mobile to the server, which in turn, shared users current location with server inside a premise/building to accommodate indoor positioning system. This will help the server to provide users with information on POIs (point of interest) over the map on a mobile device. This also guides the user to navigate from their current location to a destined point of interest. For example, the POI in a hospital premise could be the location of an X-Rat room, MRI room, Operation theater or a private ward, etc.
In discussion with the customer, it was required to implement a native mobile application for Android and iOS mobile devices, which can allow users to search a point of interest on their mobile app. By default, some important points of interest could be seen over the map in the mobile app as soon as the user enters into a premise. Further, users can select a POI and see navigation coming over the map from their current location to selected destined POI. Some of the important tasks identified in this project are as follows.
We captured requirements, performed analysis and presented the customer with wireframes/static screenshots for the complete process. The functional specification defines complete process flow as well as underneath workflow under process flow, wherever required. A high level and detailed designed scalable, secure and performance-oriented architecture presented to the customer providing tech stack details to be used in this application.
The application development started in an agile fashion. The modules like displaying POIs over the map, searching a POI with various filters of categories and subcategories, display route navigation, cancel a route, wrong route, push notifications tech.
