Nothing could be better than when your own wearable provide health related vitals about you without interrupting your daily routines. You can view this data in your mobile and web app to work towards healthier lifestyle.
Process Followed
Before putting the methodology of application development into practice, it was important for our team to devise a systematic approach and deliver a solution that meets the client's expectations. From emphasizing the UX/UI of the app to identifying the problems and doing beta testing of an app, many more things were required to be programmed accordingly. Problem Statement
The requirement from a major US based hospital chain to implement fitness mobile app for their patients to fetch and track their activities data from integrated various watches for their wellness. The app supposed to be developed in React Native for Android and iOS along with a responsive web application. The data to be showcased in various charts so that patients can view their data to stay fit.
Feasibility Study
In discussion with customer, it has been observed that there is business requirement of an Ihybrid mobile app for Android and iOS to fetch and track data in mobile app for their patients. The data is being received from various integrated watches under IoT mode of operations. Then, to save this data to server DB and display the same data for patients on mobile and web app interface under various charts with filters of per week, per month and per three months. These charts were of Heart Rate, Sleep, Calories Burnt and Steps representing activities data. Based upon activity data, the hospital was offering coins to patients in app wallet, what patients can encash against their health treatment bills. This was to encourage patients to stayfit in mankind.
Following are identified as tasks of highest importance what users can do
- Users can login with their registered email/password or using their social media credentials for Facebook and Google.
- Users can link or delink to integrate app with one or all devices (wathes) like Fitbit, Google, Fit, Garmin, Apple Watch etc. to fetch activities data. This was done connecting app with watches via device’s Bluetooth.
- Users can View their activities data in mobile and web app applying date range filters.
- Users can view coins in their respective wallet in proportionaite to activity data points what they have accumulated.
The Challenges
Developing of App like this came with a set of logistical challenges:
- Displaying rich UI/UX charts in React native app.
- Ensuring integrated watches work seamlessly with mobile via Bluetooth, when connected.
- Secure transactions of data to maintain patient’s data privacy.
- Uninterrupted logging in and logging out of application.
- Performance and load management.
Solution Applied
As an expert company in developing mobile applications in space of IoT and using hybrid technology React Native, we have successfully delivered this fitness mobile app. We presented customer with a detailed project plan to execute this project work to provide utmost transparency on project progress. The functional requirements specification, prepared by us, elaborated every single feature to help graphic designer, developers and testers to stay and develop application as per agreed scope of work. This does also provide customer the desired confidence so that the customer can trust our understanding about the scope of work. We have designed and developed rich app interfaces, integrate the UI components with backend APIs developed by us. We also include SDKs of various watches, in scope of this project, to integrate mobile app with devices to get the data of user activities as expected. We have also designed detailed set of test cases covering in depth corner cases to ensure testing so that mobile app will work error free in production environment. The challenges had been dealt by keeping a close eye on certain critical paths in project plan to make sure that these challenges to be overcome with smart and intelligent research and PoC, wherever required during project execution. The idea is to develop an application that helps in carrying out treatment plans as well as providing in house medications facilities to the elderly patients.
The app is equipped with modules like chat, group chat, alerts, user status, push notification, etc. and facilitates 24X7 special care to older people.
